Making Life Easy
Are you making life easy by simply, being YOU? It may seem like a strange question, and yet I Coach so many people who have literally forgotten who they are. There are many reasons this happens and often it happens insidiously over time….essentially we don’t even realise it’s happening.
How can we tap into ourselves regularly?
I think often we remember who we are when we take time to look after ourselves and recently I did just that. I will caveat this by saying - looking after yourself isn’t something to do as a one-off, it’s 100% something you need to make a regular practice so that you keep connecting back to what’s at your source.
This was my experience…
Earlier this week I was lucky enough to go to the local Spa for a foot treatment, it was a beautiful present that I received for my birthday in April this year. Due to the all the training I have been doing and physical events I have participated in over the past 12 months my feet have taken a bashing, so I did something that’s new for me - I actually put it out there that I would value that experience…and luckily it didn’t disappoint.
It started off with a beautiful warm foot soak and gentle foot scrub, then once my feet were dry I was asked to lie down on the treatment bed which was also lovely and warm. I was then covered with two large soft towels and a smooth, round, flat Jade rock was placed on my heart chakra…it was sheer bliss!
My foot treatment continued as I relaxed and enjoyed the sensation of being pampered and I sunk into total relaxation….again it was incredibly BLISSFUL!
This is what I took away from the day…
When I left the treatment room I was given a small business sized card with essential oil on it (which smelt yummy), and it had this wonderful quote on it.
The quote said, "I'm simply me, and that is all I need to be," which immediately resonated with me and made me feel at peace. It carries a powerful message of self-acceptance and embracing one's authenticity, which I love. It got me thinking - so I chose to consult ChatGPT about why this quote is powerful and this is what it said:
Embracing authenticity: The quote encourages individuals to embrace their true selves. It emphasises that there is no need to conform to societal expectations or compare oneself to others. By accepting and being true to who you are, you can experience greater self-fulfillment and inner peace.
Self-empowerment: The quote also emphasises that being yourself is enough. It empowers individuals to recognise their inherent worth and value, regardless of external judgments or validations. This self-empowerment fosters confidence, self-belief, and the ability to make choices aligned with one's own values and aspirations.
Liberation from expectations: Society often imposes numerous expectations, standards, and pressures on individuals - not to mention parental expeactations. This quote challenges the notion that one needs to meet those external expectations to find happiness or fulfillment. It liberates individuals from the burden of trying to fit into predefined molds and encourages them to define their own path.
Authentic connections: By embracing their true selves, individuals are more likely to attract authentic connections with others. When you are genuine and unapologetically yourself, you attract like-minded people who appreciate and accept you for who you are. This leads to deeper and more meaningful relationships.
Self-compassion and self-love: "I'm simply me, and that is all I need to be" promotes self-compassion and self-love. It encourages individuals to treat themselves with kindness, understanding, and acceptance. By recognising that you are enough as you are, you can cultivate a positive relationship with yourself and nurture your overall well-being.
Freedom to explore and grow: When you embrace your authenticity and recognise that being yourself is sufficient, you free yourself from the fear of judgment or failure. This opens up opportunities for exploration, growth, and self-discovery. It allows you to step outside your comfort zone, pursue your passions, and evolve into the best version of yourself.
Love your work ChatGPT, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
So in summary, by embracing this mindset, anyone can lead a more fulfilling, joyful, and authentic life. Isn’t that what we all really want?
How can you tap into this mindset?
If you haven’t treated yourself in a while, I highly recommend it. Remind yourself that ‘you are worth it’ as L’Oreal now famously says. Just do something that makes you feel great. I promised you it’ll be worth it.
