The Power of Inspiration

What inspires you? Have you considered that when you are inspired you take action? It’s an interesting thought isn’t it.

If like me in the past you have struggled to take action and have sat in procrastination for longer than you’d like, then this will definitely interest you. So to get started, what does inspiration actually mean?

What does inspiration mean?

  1. It’s the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

  2. It’s the drawing in of breath; inhalation.

If you think of the ‘Be Do Have principle’ that is used by Tony Robbins and Steven Covey in their writing it explains how, if we move our focus from what we have (or don't have), to who we want to be – and align our goals and actions with that state of being, in time, we'll achieve our haves.

“When I have, I'll do, and then I'll be, becomes, who must I be and what must I do to have what I want.”

As a Master Practitioner in NLP it reminds me that when we feel experiences through multiple senses we are more likely to recall them. The anchoring effect is a psychological phenomenon in which an individual's judgements or decisions are influenced by a reference point or "anchor" which can be completely irrelevant.

NLP anchoring uses a stimulus; it may be a sound, an image, a touch, smell or a taste to trigger a consistent response in you or someone else. We learn by making links and associations. When something is anchored, we react without thinking. This can be beneficial or painful.

So what inspires you?

To get clear on this you need to know yourself, intimately. You need to be connected to what brings you joy and what energises you. You need to know, ‘what are those things that you’d do all day everyday even if you weren’t paid to do them?’ That’s a great indicator.

“For me it’s learning about myself and helping others to understand themselves.”

That journey started for me when I was in my twenties and felt like I’d lost a huge part of myself when my parents passed away. Loss and grief have a way of taking away joy and replacing the space that was once full of love with doubt and uncertainty. In that space and over a number of years I began to get clear on who I am and what stokes my inner fire.

It was most definitely a marathon, not a sprint. A colourful journey of grief counselling, reading lots of books, too many nights out with my mates drowning my sorrows in alcohol fuelled evenings, body work, acupuncture, chiropractic sessions, psychic insights, hours and hours of studying and learning things like NLP, Hypnotherapy, Time Line Therapy, Coaching, Archetypes, Matrix Therapies, many hours of soul searching and lots, lots more. Then Numerology found me and the lights started to come on in a new and refreshing way.

Inspiration comes in many forms - miracles do happen

When I learnt Numerology it was like I already knew it. It felt like the information was already there, deep inside, I just needed a gentle nudge to reconnect to it. I’ll be honest, whilst the knowledge came to me easily, it has taken me time to trust it. I think that’s more about me trusting myself and reintegrating my trust in myself. It’s a natural consequence of being rocked to your core. In my experience ‘loss’ does that to us human beings.

Numerology enabled me to get to the core of who I am this life time. I think of it as cutting straight through the onion, rather than peeling it. The deep dive into the part of myself that will disappear when I stop breathing - I know this because I’ve experienced it first hand. Once we stop breathing our bodies remain and our life force evaporates. I now know who I am on a soul level - a vibrant, curious soul in a skin-bag enjoying the ups and downs of this life experience.

Becoming a wife and mum - being loved by my beautiful, big hearted husband and precious daughter have helped me to re-establish my self back to my ‘whole self’ over time. I now feel wholehearted and that feels very inspiring. I feel like I can face anything -be anything, do anything, have anything.

If you are struggling to connect to your source of inspiration, please know that it’s there, you may just need a gentle nudge like I did to reconnect to it.

If you’d like some help to reconnect, reach out.

Much love, Tee-Jay x
